Medical

A 20-year-old young woman was diagnosed with cancerous tumors on her liver.  She has suffered significant medical issues related to her illness that require an immediate visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Her family is struggling to cover her mounting medical bills and cannot afford to pay for a hotel stay in Rochester.  MTF covers the hotel expenses for the family, allowing this young woman to receive the treatments she needs with her mother nearby.

Medical

A 5-year-old boy is diagnosed with hyperopia, astigmatism and amblyopia at his kindergarten vision exam. His single mother is barely making ends meet and cannot afford the cost of the glasses he needs. Purchasing them with his medical card will take several months and he needs them immediately. MTF covered the cost of the glasses, which he received immediately, allowing the boy to see and learn at school.

Housing Stability

A father and his 4 sons are devastated when their mom suddenly passes away. He is struggling to care for these 4 young boys alone in additional to coping with the unexpected funeral expenses. He is unable to afford both rent and utilities expenses this month. Mothers Trust Foundation pays the rental fee, easing the financial burden for this family during a very challenging time.

Housing Stability

A married couple suffer the loss of one of their children after a long battle with cancer. It was a huge loss to the family of 5 and left them with many unexpected medical bills. In addition, the mother had surgery several weeks ago and had to leave her job.  The significant reduction in income has impacted their ability to pay for essential household utilities.  MTF pays the overdue utilities bill, allowing the family to avoid a disconnection of gas services and make ends meet financially until the mother can return to work.

Education

A 17-year-old high school student with an emotional disability has worked hard to graduate and plans to apply to college.  Her goal is to attend a historically black college or university because of the cultural experience and the opportunity to become a successful, educated black woman. Her advisor recommends she attend the Historically Black College Tour field trip.  She wants very much to go on the tour but cannot afford the fees and travel costs.  MTF pays the expenses, making it possible for her to have college visit experiences at the schools she wishes to attend and take the next step toward achieving her goal of a college degree.

Education

A student dreams of pursuing a career as a police officer and wants to enroll in Law Enforcement classes. Her single mother works hard to provide for the family and is not able to afford the fees for her daughter to attend the classes. MTF covers the class fees, providing a path for the girl to achieve her goals.

Extracurricular/Enrichment Activities & Camp

A 5-year-old girl and her younger brother are placed in a second foster home due to physical abuse. They experienced domestic violence at the hands of their biological father as well. As a result of the trauma, the girl has struggled with emotional outbursts and was asked to leave her daycare. Her foster mother found a summer camp program that looked like a great fit for her, but she could not afford the fees. MTF partners with DCFS to pay for the camp, providing a safe and beneficial environment for the child and allowing the mother to maintain her employment. 

Extracurricular/Enrichment Activities & Camp

A grandfather is caring for his two young grandchildren on his own after their single mother abandons them. He is doing his best to provide for them but is not able to afford the cost of the before and after school program fees for the 5-year-old.  MTF pays the program expenses for the boy, providing him with the enrichment benefits of the programs while his grandfather is at work.

Safe Baby Gear

The mother of twin 1-year-old girls and a 2-year-old becomes a paraplegic from a gunshot wound inflicted by the father of her children. He is incarnated for the abuse and is no longer supporting the family financially. She needs a large toddler play yard to keep the children safe but cannot afford to pay for it.  MTF provides the family with the item, giving the mother a place for the children to play. 

Safe Baby Gear

A grandmother and grandfather are granted sole custody of their two young grandchildren while their daughter receives treatment for mental and emotional issues. Their fixed income limits their ability to purchase the necessary items to keep the toddlers safe, including car seats, a stroller and baby gates. MTF buys the much-needed items for the family, easing the financial burden for them during a time of transition.

New Clothing

A mother and her 3 children flee from her abusive husband and find safe housing.  She works full-time to support her young family but their budget is very limited.  The children are in need of new clothing and shoes to start the upcoming school year, but she is not able to afford to purchase them.  MTF provides the clothing for the family, allowing the children to feel confident as they head back to school.

New Clothing

A couple and their 5 children leave their native country due to the violence they experienced there. The father is deported for some law infractions and the mother moves into a single room with her children.  She finds a full-time job and a caregiver for the children, but they are struggling to make ends meet and she isn’t able to purchase clothing and shoes for her children.  MTF buys clothing for the children, allowing them to start new schools with new, well-fitting clothing and shoes.
